Local students get the opportunity to see how high precision parts are made.
Mason, Ohio – October 13, 2017 – In celebration of Manufacturing Month 2017, Makino is opening its facility on Friday, Oct. 20, to more than 300 students, teachers and community members to showcase leading manufacturing technologies and to encourage youth interest in manufacturing careers. The event will include guided tours throughout Makino’s Mason facility followed by hands-on activities and demonstrations designed to showcase the technologies behind the world’s most advanced machine tools.
Manufacturing Month is a national celebration of advanced manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. It addresses common misconceptions about manufacturing by taking charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry. It is supported by thousands of manufacturers and is co-produced by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Manufacturing Institute (MI), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP).
“Manufacturing has been and will continue to be an integral job market for the betterment of the U.S. economy and its people, and we intend to highlight this during this year’s event,” said Don Lane, president and CEO of Makino Inc. “We want to prove to today’s youth that manufacturing is a vibrant career field filled with cutting-edge technologies and plenty of opportunity. With increasing demand for highly skilled professionals in the manufacturing sector, it is critical that we encourage today’s students to take a second look at the manufacturing industry—a beloved market that continues to drive economic success for our country.”
